I know, I get it, it’s been a long summer and you are tired of yard work but this fall is critical for Spring 2021 garden preparation!  Insect pests and diseases can overwinter in garden debris so it is essential to tidy up your garden this fall to avoid potential problems next growing season!  As a reminder, any plant debris with symptoms of disease, such as powdery mildew, should be thrown in the garbage or yard waste bin and not your compost pile!  And don’t forget to pick-up dropped fruit from the ground that may harbor insect pests – this is a sanitation practice that should be done throughout the growing season.  Here is a great video from our friends at the Utah Pests team on strategies to manage pests with fall garden clean-up, enjoy – and get tidying!
