Happy Labor Day Everyone!  I just want to give a thumbs up to my wonderful volunteers!

It is my opinion that the single best way to give back is to volunteer your time and talents to those who can benefit from them.  Doing a quick search, I found Labor Day is “dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers” who make contributions to the “strength, prosperity and well-being of our country”.  I’m biased, but I happen to believe that the best volunteers are Master Gardeners (you knew I was going to say that, right?) and I love witnessing them growing and giving fresh garden grown produce to seniors that benefit from it.  We are in our third year of pop-up farmers’ markets at senior centers and thus far we have serviced 1018 seniors during 21 markets in 2019!  We are taking Labor Day off but still have 10 more markets to go after the holiday and before the conclusion of the 2019 growing season.  We are hoping to break last year’s record of 2,000 serviced seniors!  To find out more about the USU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Service Program in Salt Lake County click here.
